The Bible is filled with examples and teachings showings our vital need to draw close to our Heavenly Abba (Daddy). Enoch walked so intimately with God that God took him home without death. Daniel got alone with God three times each day. And of course since Jesus put personal time with His Father in top priority, then we should do the same. The following is a brief outline to help ensure that your "Dad Dates" are effective:

My Purpose (1 Ki 3:9; Ezr 7:10; Mat 28:18-20; Eph 1:6, 3:10-21): Disciplined discipleship for God's glory.
Lord, I want to be like Solomon & Ezra, submitting my heart to serve you and your people.

My Prayers (Luke 11:1-4): Father I will submit to You in attitude, behavior, and countenance
( Remember- the 3 levels of a stable home; the dangers of self-love ; A.B.C.'s of J.O.Y.; 3-D Temptations; etc....)

Praise - "Our Father ... in heaven, hallowed be Thy name [Your sovereign authority].
"Thy Kingdom come, Thy will be done [
Father, rule over my selfish desires]"
Petition - "Give us this day our daily bread . . . (
Give me what I need, to serve God & others)"
Peacemaking - "Forgive us our debts, as we forgive others (
Father, am I bitter toward anyone?)"
Planning - "Lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from the evil one"
** Only God's Word is worthy of our trust for planning and guiding our life.

My Preparations (Psalm 19; Pro 3:5-8): Heeding our Father's Word.

Read - So you can complete the Bible every year.
Memorize - Work on new verses, and review old ones.
Meditate - Think about the simple and profound meaning of each word & phrase.
Study - Seven steps down to earth (authority, interpret, exegesis, topics, system, practice, glorify)
** Knowing God's Word is useless, unless we apply it to daily life.

My Plans (2 Tim 3:16-17): "All Scripture is useful . . . that the man of God may be mature . . .           "[Lord, help me use this Biblical method in 2 Timothy for regular self-confrontation & change.]

A Plan to Change (L.E.A.D. to Maturity)

Behaviors - thoughts, words, & actions.

Countenance - the fine tuned image of Christ in tone, facial expression, etc.

Attitudes -
(Prideful doubt of God, choosing to love in the wrong order of priorities:
Self / Appointed / Deification)

Behaviors -

Countenance -

Put off the patterns of the old man, and put on the attitudes, behaviors, and countenance of the new man under Christ's Lordship.

Discipline -

My Practice (James 1:22): "Be doers of the word, and not hearers only, deceiving yourselves."

Father, as I get up from this Dad Date time, please help me to diligently put into practice everything your Word has shown me I need to do. Please teach me, train me, break me, and discipline me until I become the person you want me to be. And help me find accountability partners when I need them, to ensure that I change quickly and consistently. Amen.
