Outline - Your Marriage
Reflecting Christ's Marriage - For God's Glory & Other's Blessing

Rev 19 & Eph 5 & Gen 1-3

"One Body" (Fully functional, not dysfunctional)

DNA = (Designed Not Accidental - Information (God’s Word)

*  Just as our physical bodies develop according to the design written by our Creator in our DNA, God's Word is His inerrant and sufficient counsel for all that is needed to build a one flesh home for His glory.  We don't need the theories and therapies of man's changing assumptions.  (Psa 19; 119; Pro 30:5-6; Mat 7; 2 Tim 3:16-17; Heb 4:12)  (See Genesis notes for "The Third Day:  DNA", for more about creation.)

Backbone = Authority / Submissive Faith

*  Our bodies are able to stand strong and function as God designed because of the structure provided by our backbone.  In the same way, God's appointed structure of delegated authority is essential to the godly function of a home, and even a church.  When the spiritual backbone of authority and submission is removed or weakened in the relationships of either home or church, that body (one flesh) becomes a dysfunctional jellyfish, and God is dishonored before the world!  Beware of the myth of mutual submission, and see our article about its insidious origin and fruit.  (Eph 5:17-21; 1 Cor 11; 1 Tim 2; 1 Pet 2-3).

Softness = Agape Attitude - ABC’s of JOY

*  A backbone definitely make a strong body, but without the warmth and softness of sensitive skin, muscle, and life breathing spirit, it's just a cold, hard, dry bones skeleton.  In the spiritual, relational "body" of a marriage, the warmth and softness comes from the heart attitude (Mat 15:19) of God's agape love.   The structure of authority and submission, without God's self-sacrificing love, is just as dysfunctional as a mushy body without a backbone.  Both dimensions must balance one another, for the true image of God (Father, Son, and Holy Spirit) to be seen, felt, and enjoyed for His glory.

Function = Living it out God’s Way  (See our "Family" articles for the following principles for practical application):

- Three Level Pyramid on the Rock
- Forgiveness (Receiving & Giving)
- Communication (Listening & Sharing)
- Decision Making (C.A.B. / Trust)

Remember, every warning, struggle, temptation, promise, strategy, and victory in the Revelation can also play out in your life, your family, and your church!
The choice is yours ................
What do you need to change?

(The final question to ask God, whenever you study God's Word)
Lord, how am I doing on your conflict meter, for your glory?
Giving Up < < < < Standing Firm > > > > Blowing Up

Remember there are only two modes for a believer:
* Marching forward with the gospel.
* Standing firm when conflict arises!
